![]() If it is for a race that is updated on the website then it is either normal, not possible to take or Scorn simply didn't mention it. If you see that your character is boosted or super boosted, then you can be pretty sure that your character should "do well", assuming you know what you're doing. Whereas a boosted character would do straight "mauls" performing the damage test, and a superboosted character would do straight decimates, there is now something of a blur for many of the race/class combos. Some race/class combos may very well be "superboosted" damage wise, but only boosted in the saves and thac0 departments (this seems to be the case with several of the larger race hitters, such as bugbear barbarians and ogre armsmen).Īlso note that what used to be known as "boostage" and "superboostage" is no longer fully accurate, as the "+10" and "+20" damage modifiers seem to have been blurred somewhat for a variety of race/class combos. Many races also get a bonus to their thac0 and/or saves. However, this is not the only form of "boostage", it is simply the only one that is definitively testable. The most obvious indicator is an inordinate damage increase that is granted above and beyond the basic damage roll of the character. These combinations gain bonuses when the character is at or above level twenty. To balance what might otherwise be a strong combination of magic and strength, that race/class combo may be subject to penalties once the character is at or above level twenty.Ĭonversely, some combinations are not as strong as they should be, even though the combination fits the race for flavour reasons. On DSL, some race/class combinations are discouraged, though not expressly forbidden.
